Introduction to Wheel Spinning

Skill Level:  Beginner

Prerequisites:  The only prerequisite is an open mind and a desire to learn.

Class Description:
Have you ever wished that you could make your own yarn, just the way you want it?  If the answer is "Yes," then this is the workshop for you!  We will spend a relaxing time and begin with the basics of wheel spinning.  Included in the workshop will be discussions and demonstrations drafting and plying methods.

Participants will receive fiber and handouts.  

Students should bring:
Students should bring a wheel, if you already own one. 

Special note: 
Depending on the location of the workshop, Terri may be able to bring a few wheels for students to use in class.  If additional wheels are needed for the workshop, please contact Terri at TerriSpins@gmail.com to discuss arrangements.

Spinning for Lace

Skill Level:  Intermediate

Prerequisites:  Beginning spinning knowledge. Students should be able to spindle a continuous yarn.

Class Description:
Have you ever seen a lace shawl and wished that you could spin yarn that fine? In this class, you’ll learn techniques that will have you spinning fine yarns in no time at all! We will cover some of the different elements that can determine the characteristics of your yarn, including wheel set-up, drafting technique, ply, etc. We’ll also work with various fibers that we can use for spinning lace weight yarns, ranging from fine alpaca to some heavier wools that might surprise you! Participants will receive fiber, handouts, and suggestions for new and experienced spinners.

Participants will receive a variety of fibers and handouts.  

Students should bring:
Students should bring a spinning wheel in good working order, extra bobbins, and lazy kate.
Optional:  Although we probably won't have extra time in class, you may want to bring some knitting needles to try out your new yarn after class!

What Every Spinner Needs to Know

Skill Level:  All Levels

Prerequisites:  The only prerequisite is an open mind and a desire to learn.

Class Description:
Terri will cover the questions that surface most often for spinners (wheel or spindle) and will offer suggestions on how to overcome problems and issues on a range of spinning topics.  Bring your questions or submit them ahead of time to TerriSpins@gmail.com.  Terri wants to be prepared with the necessary tools and supplies!

Participants will receive handouts and various supplies as needed to answer questions and resolve spinning issues.  

Students should bring:
Note taking supplies.  A spinning wheel in good working order or spindles; and tools or fiber that are related to your questions - hand cards, nostepinne, etc.
